So Moffat says Clara is the one who brings Eleven to his maturity. But who or what brings River to hers? At the end of TWORS she was still very much the immature young girl and when we next saw her in TATM she’s mellowed out some, gained some maturity. And we we see her in the Library she is fully mellow and mature. What enabled her to reach that point? Did really she for the most part do it all alone?
I feel so sad and angry for her. It seems for the most part she lead a kind of lonely life never really having her husband as hers and hers alone. Moffat even has her husband declare another woman as the one being perfect for him. People are continually disregarding River as his wife or just won’t even acknowledge her and now Moffat declares her story as complete. It really was a cruel and tragic life for her.
But hey, off we go to the next Doctor ship right?
Oh gosh yes and I just realized this recently and it makes me sad. It’s not that River was half-baked, but her gradual departure from the show sure was.
If you actually look at her timeline and how she matured (from her viewpoint in time) then you realize she had the potential to be the strongest character on the show. And in a way she is, she just didn’t get the screen time for it.
There’s still hope she might come back once.
